What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of healing that developed in China about 3,000 years ago and has changed very little over the centuries. It's based on the idea that laws of nature can be used to understand the inner workings of the body. This method of healing involves techniques such as acupressure or massage, cupping, scraping, exercises, and of course, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

The basic foundation for Chinese medicine is that there is a life energy flowing through the body which is termed Qi (pronounced "chee"). Qi in TCM has two aspects. One refers to the vital substances comprising the human body and maintaining its life activities, such as the Qi of water and food (food essence), the Qi of breathing (breathing nutrients) and so on. The other refers to the physiological functions of viscera and bowels, channels and collaterals, such as the Qi of the heart, the lung, the spleen and the stomach and so on.

TCM is being used by billions of people today. TCM offers people a holistic system of medicine to diagnose and treat the root cause of health problem.
